So, where do you go to get a more interesting experience than what you might find in
your own backyard? You could take a trip to Tamaulipas, Mexico for the annual El Cielo
Butterfly Festival. The trip would cost around $700 if you went through an agency. Or
you could try the Victoria Butterfly Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia in Canada.
Then there is London Butterfly House in Britain, the Fjarilshuset in Sweden, The
Butterfly Farm in Costa Rica, or you could travel around the remainder of the United
Kingdom.
If you prefer to stay in America, there is Butterfly World in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. You
could go to Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House in Chesterfield, Missouri. Texas offers
several enjoyable attractions. Mission, Texas has an annual Texas Butterfly Festival.
East Texas has their East Texas Butterfly Festival. South Texas offers the NABA Butterfly
Park. Another interesting place to watch butterflies is the Butterfly Palace and
Rainforest Adventure in Branson, Missouri. It costs around $18 for an adult and $23 for
children 4 and up.
You could join other butterfly enthusiasts and get even more information as people
share. Some of the clubs include: Massachusetts Butterfly Club, Grand Prairie Butterfly
Club in Illinois, North Jersey Butterfly Club, Connecticut Butterfly Association, and the
Carolina Butterfly Society. A club will usually have a low-cost membership fee of around
$10 per year. Contributing your own information on butterfly watching can enhance the
club's effectiveness. You will be able to learn from the experience of others in their
adventures with butterfly watching.
If you can't leave your home to enjoy butterflies, there is still a wealth of information
available to help you travel with your imagination. You can begin with checking out
books at your local library. There are videos available, information on the internet,
shows on learning channels on the television. Maybe you can leave your home, but you
can't afford an extensive trip such as going outside the United States. In that case, you
could try natural science museums, zoos, gardens, parks, meadows or nature-oriented
fun parks.
Apart from your backyard butterfly garden, some points of interest where you can enjoy
successful butterfly watching are Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia; Niagara
Park, Ontario; Butterfly Kingdom in South Carolina and Wings of Paradise in Cambridge,
Ontario. People from all over the world visit these butterfly watching hotspots. They
provide butterfly watching enthusiasts a view of many species of butterflies and rare
plants.
